Casus is related to the English word "case," and can mean "case," "incident", or "rupture". On the other hand, I agree that the peace dealing system could be improved a lot and is arguably a more important aspect.įrom what I've read most of the 'Casus Belli' goes along the lines of 'We the X must prove to the gods we are better than Y and taking their Z will prove it' With that said, it might turn some people away from the game, so I understand why we probably will never see it in a total war game. Same goes for the Senate in republican Rome or any noble court for that matter. A medieval king could do very little unless his feudal lords would back him and support his claims. Leaders have always sought to justify aggressions, not so much for the sake of their potential victims, but in order to gain the support from the people that their power rests on.
I like it too, and for me it's a matter of immersion and authenticity. The only issue I have is that obtaining peace is quite difficult, and a faction I have reduced to one province and slaughtered all it's armies rarely wants peace. Rome 2 (and all other TW titles) gives you the freedom to make war when and where you want. And if any Duke, King or county has a problem with that they will be next on the list. In real life, if I am King of England and want to invade Ireland, I **** well will.
